I have a personal story to share…
My wife was a vegetarian for more than 20 years. Trained in the Sport Medicine field she fed us whole-grain breads and pasta, rice milk, lots of soy/tofu, organic brown rice dishes, and as much ‘organic’ fruits and vegetables we could get our hands on. Me being a ‘non-cook’ happily ate what ever she made. For the 8 final years of her vegetarian diet I too was a strict vegetarian. We thought we were doing ourselves ‘good’. Eating accordingly to the USDA’s food pyramid (mostly grains and starches). Our government’s recommended eating graphic has changed a little. Now it is a plate, no longer a pyramid, yet little else has changed.
Well… we were were taught wrong about food. My wife’s cholesterol was off the charts. Being a runner and weight resistance trainer, while eating this way, Doctors could not explain the high cholesterol. “You are doing all the right things. The problem must be genetic. We need to get you on Lipitor.” On our USDA recommended diet we were getting fatter, had high inflammation, achy bones and we were still starving 2 hours after stuffing ourselves. Sound familiar?
Tell me, if cows are fed corn and other grains to fatten them up for the market, and we humans are to eat the majority of our diet from corn and other grains to abide by our government’s USDA recommended healthy diet, how come we wouldn’t get fattened up with such a diet like the cows? Oh wait… this diet is fattening us up along with fattening up the bank accounts of Big Corn and Big Pharma. Do you see the link here? The connection between Big Government, Big Corn (and other food commodities), and Big Pharma runs deep!! Follow the money!
So getting back to my first questions; Do you want the research of what makes us healthy or sick? Do you want the evidence? Do you want to know what is up with this paleo diet thing?
